How to put your Love in Motion: SFL Online 2020!
While the look of SFL may be changing, the heart of the event is not! In the weeks leading up to our online event, we invite you to register and fundraise like normal, but with a slight twist. Follow the steps for a successful fundraiser:
1. Register to fundraise
We want to encourage you to continue like normal and fundraise for mothers and fathers facing unsupported pregnancies and their preborn babies.
2. Invite others to participate and get inspired
We can’t do this alone! Team up with friends and family to fundraise and make the most impact. Join the Steps for Life Online 2020 Facebook group where you can post pictures/videos and get support from other participants. You can also follow us on Instagram to get updates and more and use #LoveinMotion #SFLOnline2020
3. Join us for the live webcast on May 23rd at 10am
Tune in for an online SFL experience that will include special guests and the results of our fundraising. We’ll also host some pre-event webcasts leading up to the big day to get you pumped! Follow us on social media and check back here to get updates on how to join in.
4. Run, Walk, and Move wherever you are – Together
While we can’t gather to run+walk together, we can do so in spirit! Choose a time and place to run a 5k or walk 2 miles either preceding May 23rd, or right after the live webcast. If you have a preferred fitness app that records your route, share your walk or run with us in our SFL Facebook group!

How Does Walking or Running Help?
All of our program resources, including those at our PRCs, are available at no charge to our clients. Raising money or sponsoring a participant allows us to continue to save and transform lives through compassionate presence, as we have done for decades! Our goal this year is to raise $140,000.

Any sponsorships that are not received online through the fundraising website can be mailed to or processed over the phone. In order for individual participants or teams to be credited, please indicate who is being sponsored.

Q: What if someone gives me cash/a check (i.e.: offline sponsorships)?
A: If multiple people give you cash donations, you are welcome to write a personal check covering the full amount payable to First Image. Also, print and fill out an Offline Sponsorship Form with the corresponding sponsors and we will be able to credit those sponsors individually OR you can turn in separate cash/check sponsorships with corresponding sponsorship forms at SFL.
Q: Can someone pledge to sponsor me? How can I make sure First Image receives the money?
A: We do encourage you do get payment in-person or online as much as possible since people are forgetful, however, sponsors can pledge to sponsor you and First Image will invoice those sponsors after the event, Please make sure to get a correct mailing address for those sponsors. We will only invoice for gifts over $20.
Q: Is First Image being affected by COVID-19?

Q: Can I turn in my offline sponsorships before SFL?
A: Yes! To make sure your sponsorships are all accounted for, we recommend turning in offline sponsorships before May 23rd but we will be accepting sponsorships/gifts through the end of June. You can drop them off at our Headquarters or mail them to the address listed above. We also have a handy Google Form you can submit, and whether or not you are fundraising online, download this excel spreadsheet and record your sponsorships on it. Just make sure to turn in the corresponding money to our Events staff! Please refer to the question above on how to turn in offline sponsorships.
Q: Can my offline sponsorships be recorded on my fundraising page?
A: Yes! Any offline sponsorships turned in (via mail if recorded on an Offline Sponsorship Form or submitted through the Google Form) can be entered online by Events Staff. Please make sure to turn in corresponding cash/checks at our Headquarters (via appointment). You should see those sponsorships reflected in your online total 1-3 business days after receiving the sponsorships.
Q: What will happen day-of instead of the usual Run+Walk?
A: We are hard at work putting together a fun, virtual experience for all of our participants! You’ll hear a firsthand story of redemption, learn about the mission of First Image, and celebrate all of the work you’ve done to support the people we serve! Following the webcast, you’ll have the opportunity our love into motion wherever you are and whomever you’re with by taking a walk, running a 5k, or even having a dance party all to demonstrate that our love is on the move.
Q: When and where will the live webcast take place?
A: Our live webcast will start at 10am PST; you can watch on our website, Facebook, or YouTube and you can catch this wherever you are currently at. We want to encourage you to keep practicing social distancing, dependent on the current state of things as we draw nearer to the event, but if you’re able, go outside after the webcast wraps up and walk or run along a route of your choosing! If you miss the live stream, we’ll be posting the video on our website shortly after the event.
Q: How do I register?
A: Go to our fundraising website and click the Register to Walk or Run button then follow the steps to register. You can participate as an individual, create or join a team. You can also register day-of, but will need to pay an entry fee. Fill out our printable Offline Registration form, send it to our office ahead of the event.
Q: Who needs to register?
A: We encourage everyone to register, whether or not they are fundraising. This allows us to have more accurate participant headcounts.
Q: Can I register my kids or other people who can’t register themselves?
A: Yes! When you register, you can select multiple tickets and fill out their info when registering yourself. They’ll be able to claim their page and make customizations after you register them.
Q: Do I have to raise a minimum amount to participate?
A: Nope. Registration is free and we don’t require anyone to fundraise, but in order to make the most impact in our PRCs, Heart, and Reality Project, please consider making a personal donation or raise at least $120. You’ll receive a free SFL shirt or baseball cap when you hit that goal and make it possible for one woman to receive all the services we provide at our centers!
Q: I registered, but now what should I do?
A: We recommend that you start customizing your fundraising page ASAP! Upload your picture and write the story of why you are participating. From your homepage, you can find copy-and-paste email templates to ask for sponsorships (and thank your sponsors after they give!), track your sponsorships, and update your progress. Q: Are there rewards for top fundraisers?
A: Yes! In addition to the fundraising rewards that all individuals can earn (see the Rewards section), the top fundraiser in each age category and for the teams that reach specific benchmarks will receive a special award. Because of the change in this event, we are keeping the website open until the end of June and therefore won’t be announcing winners until then. Thanks for your patience in advance! Q: I raised enough to earn rewards! How do I receive them?
A: Some rewards (like shirts and hats) will be mailed or hand delivered (with appropriate social distancing) to you. Some rewards will be mailed following the event. Our Events staff will make sure that everyone who earned rewards will receive them in a timely manner.
Q: Is this a political event?
A: No, this is not a political event. First Image does not have any political ties and this event is focused on raising awareness about what we do and financial support to continue bringing compassionate care to the vulnerable women, men, preborn babies, and students in our city.

Every participant will have the chance to earn prizes, even if you’re competing on a team; just make sure to create a team page and have each member join!
Fundraise as an Individual or on a Team
Top fundraisers in each age category will be specially honored. Teams that reach the fundraising benchmarks below will also receive a special award. You can have both walkers and runners on a single team.
