She walked into the doors of our clinic unsure and overwhelmed by fear she could barely name. Her boyfriend was preparing to return to his home country, leaving her to face pregnancy and raising a baby alone. Caught between abortion and an uncertain future as a single mother, she felt frozen and stuck.
At the first ultrasound, she saw the heartbeat that God had set in motion, steady and unmistakable. She left still wrestling and unsure. So unsure, she missed her follow-up appointment. We prayed for her, we reached out, and we waited.
Days later, she called us back, sharing that her boyfriend had left. Alone, she had been crying out to the Lord. We invited her in for a second ultrasound. Again, the heartbeat was strong and undeniable. Tears fell as she chose life, trusting God to meet her in the unknown.
She had experienced change since her first appointment–the kind of change only God can bring. Her boyfriend leaving had broken her heart. She didn’t know where he was or if he was even safe. She felt completely alone, yet in that loneliness she had been crying out to the Lord.
“I am going to keep this baby,” she said. “I am going to do this; I am going to keep it… but I am so scared.”
Loneliness had been replaced with purpose and trust in the Lord who met her in her fear.
While her circumstances remain difficult, her faith is real. She is taking courageous steps forward, caring for her older child, leaning into prayer, and trusting God one day at a time. We continue to walk alongside her, connecting her to resources and surrounding her with care. We believe that God will provide strength, community, and hope for the road ahead.
